History of Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans

Blue Cross Blue Shield plans are one of the most prominent health plans available in the market. The Blues more than 1 million people in all insured in the United States. More or less BCBS is the 1st Choice for all people, you have the insurance.
But venture, which Blue Cross Blue Shield plan and how did it start in the first place? What are they?
BCBS is a national organization that links several states across USA. This non-profit organization began in the early 1960s in the U.S. state of Texas, when a group of doctors and hospitals came together to offer services to offer. The purpose was to top quality health care for the public, if they were based. The idea was that, at a fixed price, the doctors and hospitals will provide services to all ads, which the reporting is provided.

Over time, the Committee started organizations behave as traditional insurance companies where they started offering wider range of plans and started with profit motives. For this reason, sometime in the 1980s, there was tax exemption benefits revoked. Later in the Blue Cross Blue Shield organizations dismantled, where some of the Blues converted healthcare companies and the remaining stopped the services.
Today, BCBS are in the form of insurance agencies and associations. The associations sell their plans by independent insurance companies like Anthem, Well Point, Care First, Hohenschwangau Mark etc.
The Blues ensure that companies that sell their plan are the best in the region and offer the highest quality of service for the insured. Also in accordance with its guidelines, in a certain region, only one company can sell their plans. Well Point is its largest carrier and sells the Blue Plan in over 14 states such as Virginia, Connecticut, Kentucky, California, New York (as of Empire) etc.
All in all, the Blue Cross Blue Shield plans are one of the best in the country. They are very popular because the ease and quality of service they offer. Due to their low costs and premiums, they are the 1st Choice of the people who insurance.
